Chicken Duplex

So as I have mentioned before, my dad and I were in the process of building an addition to our existing chicken house for raising biddies.  The idea was to build a house big enough for 9-10 biddies to grow to a reasonable size while being protected from the larger hens.  The biddies will stay in this house and their adjoining pen until they are big enough to hold their own against the 3 hens we currently have.  Here are the pictures of the construction, best chicken duplex ever built!  (Thanks Dad!)

 Front side (chicken door)

Finished with shingles

Back, human access door and window

Lift top lid for easy access to biddies!

Biddies, loving their new digs!

Now all that is left is to build their outdoor run and watch them grow!

  1. Great idea!!!! I am wondering what to do with our biddies right now. We have a run for them, but no house. Yours looks wonderful!

  2. Yeah we had that dilemma of what to do with them until they were big enough to live with the big hens. Dilemma solved! They have a little run attached to their house that is actually inside the big chicken run, so they are protected by a fence but can "hunt" right next to the big girls!
