I found this
strawberry bush in our woods today...also known around these parts as "Hearts-a-Bustin". These plants are native and steal the show this time of year when their seed pods are opening!
These are really bright red, but the lack of light and my tiny point and shoot camera, does not do this justice!

I've never heard of those berries. Are they sweet? What do you do with them? Other than just eat them raw. lol
ReplyDeleteActually these are not edible (for people) at least. As far as I know, I think the fruit is toxic (not deadly toxic) but enough to make you sick if you eat a lot of them. But they are an important wildlife food around here!
